Abstract

Objective – to study the role of polymorphism (Leu432Val, rs1056836) of the CYP1B1 gene in the development of postmenopausal osteoporosis.

Materials and Methods. We studied bone mineral density, gene polymorphism CYP1B1 Leu432Val, as well as the concentration of malondialdehyde in the blood plasma of women of Russian ethnic groups in postmenopausal women living in the Kemerovo region.

Results. In women who have a polymorphic variant of Val/Val gene CYP1B1 the level of bone mineral density of the lumbar vertebrae was lower as compared to individuals with genotypes Leu/Val and Leu/Leu (p = 0,02).

Conclusions. The results of the study can be used in complex prediction of osteoporotic changes and stratification of patients for bone densitometry.

Keywords
