Abstract

Uterine fibroids are among the most common benign tumors of the female reproductive system, occurring in 20-40% of women of late reproductive age. The transvaginal approach to myomectomy remains understudied; however, in a select group of patients, it combines the advantages of an organ-preserving and minimally invasive approach. Transvaginal myomectomy is a technically feasible and organ-preserving technique for carefully selected patients with subserosal and interstitial-subserosal nodes of the posterior uterine wall. Key factors for effectiveness include adequate patient selection, mastery of colpotomy technique, and active follow-up in the early postoperative period. A clinical case of surgical treatment of a 46-year-old patient who underwent posterior colpotomy with fragmentary removal of a fibroid node under spinal anesthesia is presented.
