Abstract

This article explores the development of a culture of self-preservation behavior in individuals and society as the foundation of a healthy lifestyle. The article explores the historical origins of the concept of self-preservation behavior, analyzes its key aspects and forms, and notes its significance in the context of preventive healthcare doctrine and the WHO's global «Health for All» concept. The article identifies the key features characterizing self-preservation behavior, its levels, social norms, motives, and attitudes. It examines the interconnected dimensions of developing a culture of self-preservation at both the individual and population levels. It substantiates the role and place of self-preservation behavior within the system of life expectancy factors. It examines the development of a culture of self-preservation in childhood and adolescence in a market economy. It offers a perspective on the contemporary transformation of the concept of a healthy lifestyle: from a personal well-being strategy to a tool for social normalization.
