Abstract

Autoimmune hypoglycemic syndrome (AHS) is a rare condition characterized by the development of hypoglycemia in the presence of autoantibodies to components of the glycemic regulation system. Despite its rarity, AHS poses a significant diagnostic challenge, often mimicking insulinomas or other causes of organic hyperinsulinism.
Hypoglycemic conditions remain one of the most challenging issues in clinical endocrinology. Autoimmune forms, combined in the concept of Autoimmune Hypoglycemic Syndrome (AHS), occupy a special place among the non-iatrogenic causes of hypoglycemia. AHS is considered a rare disease. Since its description in 1970, by the end of 1995, about 250 cases of this disease have been described worldwide.
