Abstract
Liver abscesses are a serious surgical condition with diverse etiologies (complications of abdominal infections, cholangitis, trauma, parasitic infestations, etc.). Traditional surgical treatment is associated with significant trauma, especially in comorbid patients. Therefore, minimally invasive drainage methods under visual guidance are becoming increasingly relevant. The article presents a clinical case of minimally invasive treatment of liver abscesses under ultrasound navigation.
This clinical case is of particular interest to surgeons, ultrasound specialists, and emergency care physicians because it demonstrates: the effectiveness of the method even for giant abscesses (up to 135 × 142 mm) against the background of severe comorbidity (diabetes mellitus, heart failure); the possibility of complete cure without traumatic laparotomy using single-step puncture drainage under ultrasound guidance; a clear algorithm for the sequential use of ultrasound (for primary diagnosis and navigation) and contrast-enhanced CT (for monitoring radicality); practical significance for emergency surgery departments, as the method allows rapid resolution of septic syndrome, reduced hospital stay, and improved patient quality of life.
