Abstract
We present a clinical observation of the influence of various orthoses: an orthopedic insole, a footwear and a foot splint on the vertical position of a patient with consequences of an acute cerebral circulation disorder whose diagnosis was left-sided spastic hemiplegia, mild psychoorganic syndrome as a consequence of an acute cerebral circulation disorder and recovery period after a craniotomy. The patient’s concomitant diagnoses were second degree left-sided gonarthrosis, second degree left-sided coxarthrosis and equinovarus left foot.
Postural regulation was assessed in sandals with orthopedic insoles with arch support; wrestling shoes, wrestling shoes with a foot brace; and sneakers with a general pronator, clinically and using stabilometry data. We found that maintaining the vertical position in sneakers was the most stable and the least energy intensive. The patient evaluated it as comfortable. Standing in sandals was the least stable and the most energy intensive.
