Abstract

This article presents the results of a study aimed at investigating the professional plans and employment of the 2025 graduates from the Dental Faculty of Kemerovo State Medical University (KemSMU).
Objective – to study the immediate professional plans and employment of the 2025 graduates from the dental faculty of Kemerovo State Medical University.
Materials and methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted using an anonymous survey method. Sixty-eight (68) graduates participated in the survey. The research tool was a questionnaire containing items regarding employment plans, intended place of work, and attitudes towards residency and mentoring. Data processing was performed using descriptive statistics methods with the calculation of absolute values and percentages.
Results and discussion. The obtained results indicate a high level of professional self-identification among KemSMU dental graduates. The identified geographical concentration of graduates in large urban centers aligns with the all-Russian trend of «capitalization2 of medical personnel, which creates a shortage of dentists in small towns and rural areas. The absolute consensus on the necessity of mentoring underscores its critical importance. Young specialists recognize the gap between theoretical training and practical work and require support to bridge it.
Conclusion. A strong regional attachment to the Kemerovo region is observed when choosing a place of work and further education (79.4%). However, there is a potential risk of uneven distribution of personnel within the region, which requires attention from regional healthcare authorities. The institution of mentoring is recognized by graduates as an essential element for starting a professional career (100% of responses were «mandatory»), necessitating its systematic development within practical healthcare.
