Abstract

Diabetic fetopathy is a complex of pathological changes in the fetus and newborn that occur against the background of diabetes in the mother. This condition is associated with a violation of carbohydrate metabolism during pregnancy and can lead to serious complications for both the child and the mother.
Objective – to analyze modern sources of scientific literature that cover issues of pathogenesis, diagnosis and prognosis of perinatal and neonatal outcomes in diabetic fetopathy in pregnant women with various types of diabetes mellitus.
Materials and methods. To write the article, a review of the literature databases www.elibrary.ru, www.ncbi.com for 2019-2025 was conducted using the keywords diabetic fetopathy, diabetes mellitus during pregnancy, gestational diabetes mellitus.
Results. After analyzing scientific data, the understanding of the etiology and pathogenesis of diabetic fetopathy has been updated.
Discussion. The review describes clinical manifestations, perinatal and neonatal complications associated with diabetic fetopathy.
Conclusion. A number of scientific works are devoted to the issues of diagnosing diabetic fetopathy, but despite this, this problem remains unresolved to this day, because none of the diagnostic methods allows for the reliable detection of signs of diabetic fetopathy, which is necessary for timely therapy and prevention of complications that can be encountered in the postnatal period.

Keywords

diabetic fetopathy, gestational diabetes mellitus, diabetes mellitus of pregnancy, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia
