Abstract

The aim of the research – to carry out an analytical review of modern sources of scientific literature covering the pathogenesis of acute liver failure induced by hepatitis E virus, treatment and prevention of complications in pregnant women with hepatitis E.

Materials and methods. The analysis of 61 domestic and foreign sources of literature on this topic.

Results. According to the scientific analysis, new data on the prevalence of hepatitis E in pregnancy in the world have been obtained. The review describes possible complications of pregnancy and childbirth associated with hepatitis E, highlighted the effectiveness of screening this disease and the tactics of managing pregnancy in infected women.

Conclusion. The hepatitis E during pregnancy is often complicated by acute liver failure, which makes it an urgent problem. The analysis shows that modern antiviral therapy with direct antiviral drugs is a promising method of treatment, and the vaccine is a method of preventing hepatitis E, however, drugs that allow treating and preventing the disease during pregnancy are under development and clinical studies.
