Abstract
Aim of the study – to evaluate the efficacy of dydrogesterone use after surgical treatment in patients with ovarian endometriosis.
Study design. Observational study.
Materials and methods. The study included 88 female patients with benign ovarian tumors after surgical treatment. Group A1 included 24 patients with ovarian endometriosis who were prescribed dienogest in the postoperative period. Group A2 included 31 patients with ovarian endometriosis who were prescribed dydrogesterone in the postoperative period. Group B included 33 patients with benign non-endometrioid ovarian tumors who did not receive hormonal therapy. Symptoms, laboratory, and instrumental findings were assessed before the surgery and 6 months postoperatively.
Results. Group A1 demonstrated a significant reduction in the severity of pelvic pain and dysmenorrhea (p < 0,001), as well as normalization of the menstrual cycle (p < 0,001) в сравнении с группой А2. According to ultrasound data, none of the patients developed recurrent adnexal masses 6 months after surgical treatment.
Conclusion. The use of dienogest in a continuous regimen after surgical treatment helps alleviate pain syndrome, normalizes the menstrual cycle in patients with ovarian endometriosis, lowers NSAIDs consumption and prevents the recurrence of endometrioid ovarian cysts.
