Abstract

This article is devoted to the fundamentals of diagnosing various forms of adenomyosis, which will help to avoid both under- and over-diagnosis of this condition. The rules for performing an ultrasound examination are described. Issues of ultrasound classification of adenomyosis, both by form and by the extent of the lesion, are covered. A multimodal approach, utilizing all the options available on a modern ultrasound machine, allows for the differential diagnosis of diffuse, focal adenomyosis and adenomyoma.
